Everything started with this rickshaw back in 1994. Company founder Stefan Buerkle, together with some friends from the local sports club, drove 650 km all the way from Straubenhardt to Hamburg to visit the National German Sports Festival.The purpose was to collect money for the disabled person`s sport association. The aim was to collect as much money as possible, so a "spectecular" idea was needed. The rickshaw was born. This first rickshaw tour across germany raised a great deal of money for the disabled and further more generated an interest in these exotic vehicles. Shortly after this tour Stefan Buerkle recieved the first order for a fleet of 15 rickshaws.

A lot has happened since then, the rickshaws have changed dramatically compared with the prototype. Together with the feedback of many customers we have developed a vehicle that meets the hard requirements of a professional taxi service.
Today VELOCAB delivers the rickshaws from the Black Forrest to customers all across the world.

However, since 2003 VELOCAB does not limit itself to just the production of high-tech rickshaws but also have established a fleet of mobile rickshaws. The bikes transport people and advertising in a very attractive way during big events, sports festivals, for shop openenings or as a trade fair shuttles.
